If you have some soldering experience under your belt and you're looking for a project that will focus on precision fabrication skills, you'll want to join resident metalsmith Francesca Watson for this Big Band Ring project! This two day workshop is intended to help you understand essential principles of metal fabrication, using ring-making as the jumping off point. We'll cover accurately calculating a ring blank, how to achieve the precision necessary for this type of fabrication, and how to work with the Smith Little and Swiss dual fuel torches. The result is a substantial band ring you'll be proud to wear.

As with all of our beginner workshops, we’ll revisit the properties of sterling silver; why flux is important and which ones work best for silver; how to get a professional finish on your piece; and much more. All tools and materials necessary to complete the projects are included in your materials fee, so all you have to do is show up and have fun. And as an added bonus, you'll get 30 days access to the same videos our online participants will get... at no additional cost!

Please note that this is an advanced beginner workshop, so students must have prior successful torch soldering experience. Concerned about this? Call the studio or send us an email! Absolutely everything necessary to complete the project is provided in this workshop – all tools, materials, and equipment! Bring a pen and notebook for note-taking and eye magnification if required, but otherwise just come and have fun!
