The Big Ass Ring!
The Big Ass Ring!
If you have some soldering experience under your belt and you're looking for a project to add stone setting to your toolkit, this is the class for you! Join resident metalsmith Francesca Watson for her Big Ass Ring project, where you'll learn how to size and solder an open ring band, create a bezel from scratch, master the use of decorative wire, add embellishments, and properly set a cabochon. We'll have both butane torches and Smith Little Torches on hand, so you can try both or work with the one you prefer. We’ll revisit the properties of sterling silver; why flux is important and which ones work best for silver; how to get a professional finish on your piece; and much more. And as an added bonus, you'll get 30 days access to the same videos our online participants will get... at no additional cost!
This workshop is part of our beginner series and is the perfect workshop if you’re taking your soldering skills to the next level or if you need a refresher on skills you haven’t used for a while. Absolutely everything necessary to complete the project is provided in this workshop – all tools, materials, and equipment! Bring a pen and notebook for note-taking and eye magnification if required, but otherwise just come and have fun! (Please note that this is an advanced beginner workshop, so students must have prior successful torch soldering experience. Concerned about this? Call the studio or send us an email!)
This workshop is being held live and in-person at our Texas studio!
Can't make the trip? Live online seats will be opening for registration soon!
Workshop fee (non-taxable): $250
Materials fee (taxable): $95
(taxable and payable in the workshop)
Saturday and Sunday
November 5 & 6, 2022
