If you've ever wanted to try filigree but have been intimidated by the process, you're going to want to join us for this workshop! Lynette Andreasen will lead us on a three day exploration of the art of filigree, covering fabrication and construction in the Middle Eastern tradition with fine silver, sterling silver, and paste solder. She'll show us how to create framework for filigree designs, make our own filigree wire, and fill the framework with filigree for pendants, rings, earrings, chains, etc.
This is an all-levels class; students who have solid foundational fabrication skills will be able to make more complex designs, but you are welcome to join us even if you have no prior metalsmithing experience. Absolutely everything necessary to complete several projects is provided in this workshop – all tools, materials, and equipment! Bring a pen and notebook for note-taking and eye magnification if required, but otherwise just come and have fun!
