in our Texas studio!

Live online seats will be available at this link!

We are delighted to be welcoming Jim Dailing back to the studio for an expanded exploration of working with faceted stones. We'll learn how to accurately fabricate heavy-walled bezel settings for three faceted stone shapes - trillion, marquis, and princess cut - using Jim's uniquely accessible twists on traditional methods. Over the course of four days, we'll fabricate our own sterling silver bands and go deep in understanding the essential considerations when fabricating substantial, structural bezels for these faceted stone shapes. Best of all, we won't be using expensive setting tools or microscopes! If you have been wanting to add faceted gems to your art jewelry, this is the workshop for you!

This is an intermediate fabrication and setting class, and you'll need to be proficient in basic metalsmithing skills such as sawing, filing, and soldering. Absolutely everything necessary to complete the project is provided in this workshop – all tools, materials, and equipment! Bring a pen and notebook for note-taking and eye magnification if required, but otherwise just come and have fun!

Information about taking workshops with us

About Jim Dailing

After watching a friend skillfully cut an opal during college in 1977, Jim Dailing knew that he had found an outlet for his creative passion. He spent the next 10 years furthering his education and gaining experience in a variety of metalsmithing techniques. His enthusiasm and genuine love of the craft is evident in every piece created.

Jim creates beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces across a wide range of styles, leveraging his access to sources for award-winning gemstones and his own skill in alloying much of his own metal. He often incorporates recycled metals from family heirlooms. His current focus is designing unique engagement rings, wedding rings, and anniversary rings, using inspirational elements drawn from architecture, furniture, nature… anything his clients are drawn to visually. He takes great pride in crafting pieces that are not only visually stunning but also personally empowering.

With over 30 years of experience handcrafting custom jewelry, Jim Dailing brings an unsurpassed level of knowledge, enthusiasm and skill to his workshops, and has traveled all over the country sharing his passion for creating unique pieces.
