Metals and Wire

Gwen Youngblood Workshops

Gwen is an inventor, instructor and maker of pretty things. She explored a variety of creative outlets, from cake decorating to quilting to lampworking, until she discovered making jewelry with wire, metal and fire, and now they inspire her creativity and fuel her passion for teaching.

She loves the interaction and camaraderie of the classroom, and is excited about making metalworking techniques accessible to everyone. She shares her knowledge and creativity freely, with a dash of humor and lots of caring patience, so students learn more than they expected and have fun doing it! She is also the inventor of the Riveting Essentials tools – a set of tools that makes riveting easy and nearly foolproof. She says, “These are the tools for riveting that I have been trying to find for years. In my own work, they let me handle riveting tasks I always thought were too difficult. And in the classroom, they have changed riveting for my students. The beginner student will be amazed at their instant riveting success. I love that “A-HA!” moment, when a student realizes how simple riveting can be with these tools!”

In addition to serving as a resident instructor at The Makery, Gwen shares her talents with students at studios and events across the country, including BeadFest and Bead & Button. She has filmed several instructional Craftsy videos, and offers her favorite tools for sale at The Makery or online at www.etsy.com/shop/MetalArtLab. Visit her website, www.metalartlab.com for more information about where to find Gwen!
