Inspired by water slipping over river rocks and the sandy bottom of deep and still pools, this substantial necklace is surprisingly lightweight. It combines sleek wire and textured metal to create both positive and negative visual space, and the nearly limitless shapes and combinations made possible by the simple construction technique means no two necklaces are ever the same. Each piece is completed by modifying heavy link commercial chain and adding a handmade sterling silver clasp. Essential fabrication techniques will be covered including soldering, sawing, filing, and elements of box construction. Extensive demonstrations and use of the flex shaft will be included.
